    Writing and Editing

    You know the heart and mission of your organization; the key to successful, sustainable programs is how effectively you’re able to communicate and transfer passion to others who will contribute to your cause. AFE’s grant writers can help you organize and communicate your message in clear, convincing language.

    Concept Paper

    A concept paper succinctly and persuasively states your mission, the need, and your project. It provides the basis for many aspects of fundraising including direct mail appeals, solicitation of major donors, and letters of inquiry to grant funders. This document usually requires 20-30 hours of writing.

    Letter of Interest

    Many private funders require the submittal of a Letter of Interest to determine the suitability of your request with their mission and budget. AFE writers can make your case compelling and direct. This document usually requires 5-15 hours of writing.

    Grant Proposal

    AFE’s professional writers work with you as a collaborative team, even if we’re doing all the writing! To ensure that your proposal is written as efficiently as possible, we recommend that you dedicate a staff person to provide the organizational information needed to create a credible proposal.

    AFE requires that the clients approve all final drafts and that the clients submit the final proposal to the funder from their offices.

    Foundation or corporate proposals require an average of 10 hours or more of writing; state proposals average 40-100 hours of writing; and federal proposals average 80-120 hours of writing. The exact number of hours will depend on the complexity of the information required; the ready availability of the required data from your organization; and the responsiveness of the client in editing drafts.

    Editing

    AFE’s consultants can edit your proposal before submission to assure your request is complete and competitive.

    Grant request denied? AFE’s consultants can analyze your unsuccessful funding request and advise you on changes that will make your future requests more competitive.
