This fast-paced webinar will begin with a quick overview of how energy costs have impacted nonprofits and agencies (2008 facts and 2009 predictions). We'll look at the big picture -- what to do first to help you deal directly with high energy costs. We'll discuss cutting administrative costs and delivering your existing programs more efficiently. We'll talk about finding energy related funding: short-term and emergency funding, as well as longer term cost reduction. We'll discuss specific funders, including those that make grants, loans, and rebates. This webinar is co-presented by Cynthia Adams, CEO of GrantStation, and Sharon Gherman, CEO, Funding Exchange, Inc.

The Funding Exchange’s 5-day Intensive grantwriting class is an excellent choice for new or inexperienced grant writers, or for grant writers who want to develop a cadre of grantwriting colleagues and are interested in new and better ways to do their work.
In this workshop, each student brings a simple Request for Proposal (RFP) of the type of application they are interested in learning to prepare (or we can help you locate a funder). As we work our way through the class, students will use their RFP to guide their class project. There will be homework in the evenings, so come prepared to work! Each student will work on their own proposal and learn to edit others’ proposals. Students leave the workshop with a completed proposal that can be submitted directly to the funder and also dissected into templates for future proposals. Students receive a free 30-day membership to GrantStation.com to maximize their funding searches.
Because each student brings a different type of RFP from which to work, all students benefit from hearing questions and answers about a variety of proposal types. It’s been our experience that students get to know each other during the week and often leave with a network of peers who continue to support one another in their grantwriting efforts long after the end of the class.
Classes are $1,500 and limited to a maximum of twelve students, so don’t delay in registering – the classes fill quickly! Register for this class Questions? Contact us

This seminar shows how any nonprofit can develop and execute an Internet strategy to further its mission. We’ll examine how nonprofits are using the Internet, how they’d like to be using the Internet, and how they should be using the Internet (but may be unaware of) – and how to bridge that significant gap easily and quickly. You’ll learn how to drive more traffic to and fundraising through your site. We'll give specific suggestions on how you can improve your website so it will offer lots for your website visitors to SEE and lots for them to DO.
Each participant will be offered a free Internet Readiness Assessment (IRA) workshop, conducted at your site or by phone. The workshop examines the ways your nonprofit is using the Internet today and ways you should be using the Internet strategically to further your mission, and identifies a high-level plan to bridge the gap. The IRA workshop includes the rapid building of a powerful e-philanthropy prototype website incorporating much of your nonprofit’s needed.

Your nonprofit can have the world’s greatest, interactive website – but if no one visits it, you won’t get much benefit from it! Learn about effective ways of driving people to your website. We’ll explore the hot topic of Search Engine Optimization (SEO), and reveal many other strategies – most which you may have never heard of or considered. Most of these techniques are low-cost or free and easy to implement, and some can significantly enhance your fundraising efforts.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes: At the conclusion of this session, participants will:
- Understand innovative techniques for driving website visitors to your website -- many of these techniques are easy to implement, and free or low cost.
- Know how to keep website visitors returning to your site, hopefully often, and why it’s important to you that they do so.
- Have a strategy for collecting e-mail addresses for up to 100% of donors and other constituents, and how to use them.

Evaluation's Role in Creating Better Programs
by Sharon Charnell Gherman, President/CEO of The Funding Exchange, Inc.
Evaluation doesn’t need to be a mysterious topic, but it’s certainly a topic that people are curious about. It seems there’s a little fear about “really finding out the nitty-gritty truth” about a project we’ve invested so much of ourselves into -- what will we do if an evaluation shows we haven’t done a good job? Over the next two Exchange issues, we’ll look at evaluation and do our best to de-bunk some of the mysteries surrounding evaluations!
